India resumes e-visa services for Canadians amidst diplomatic tensions

TO recall, India suspended the issuing of e-Visa services on September 21 following the strain in the relationship between New Delhi and Ottawa after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged an Indian government link in the killing of pro-Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in British Columbia.

But in October, New Delhi resumed visa services in certain categories for Canadian citizens, and this includes tourist, employment, student, film, missionary, and journalist visas.

As for the alleged involvement of India in the killing of Nijjar, Trudeau claimed that there were credible allegations of a potential link between Indian agents and the death of Nijjar, but Canada provided no evidence.

Still, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India’s willingness to consider an investigation.
