CONCERNS for a greater regional war arose after an Israeli airstrike claimed the life of General Seyed Razi Mousavi, Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Syria.
Iranian officials and its allied militias in the region vowed to retaliate after the airstrike was carried out in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps through its state media warned that Israel will “pay for this crime.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that Tel Aviv faces a tough countdown and acknowledged Mousavi’s contribution to the security of Iran and the region.
As a longtime military adviser, Mousavi plays an important role in Iran’s regional network of allies and proxies known as the “Axis of Resistance.” The high-ranking commander is responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran as the “Axis of Resistance.
