IRANIAN Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian threatened not to let the US escape the fury of Tehran amid fears the war between Israel and Hamas could turn into a broader conflict in the region.
Amir-Abdollahian reiterated the regime’s warning during an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly on the Israel-Hamas conflict in New York.
The Iranian foreign minister, who usually speaks in Persian in his diplomatic interactions, delivered the threat in English in front of the members of the UN General Assembly in New York.
He slammed the United States for managing the genocide in Palestine and warned they will not be spared if the fighting in the besieged Palestinian enclave continues.
“I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome the expansion of the war in the region. But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire,” according to Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of Iran
The warning comes after the Biden administration accused Iran of the spate of drone attacks targeting US troops in Iraq and Syria.
Countries adopted a resolution calling for an immediate and sustained humanitarian truce in the Middle East during the emergency special session wherein 120 countries voted in favor, 14 were against, and 45 others abstained.
In response to the attacks, US fighter jets launched airstrikes early Friday on two locations in eastern Syria which the Pentagon said are housing militias with links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.
