Iranian FM meets Hamas leader, resistance groups ahead of Gaza ceasefire

IRANIAN Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian traveled to Lebanon earlier this week where he held talks with senior leaders and officials of the so-called Axis of Resistance coalition led by Iran.

Amir-Abdollahian traveled to the Lebanese capital of Beirut earlier this week where he was warmly welcomed by a delegation of Lebanese and Palestinian officials.

The meeting took place hours before a four-day humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was announced and went into effect on Friday.

After his trip to Lebanon, the Iranian foreign minister traveled to Qatar where he held talks with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in the capital of Doha.

The ceasefire will see Israel releasing 150 Palestinian prisoners and allowing the entry of crucial aid in exchange for the freedom of 50 Israeli hostages taken captive by Hamas during its surprise attack on October 7.

Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza are all part of the so-called Axis of Resistance supported by Iran.
