Israeli attack damages Syria’s Aleppo Airport

SYRIAN state media has reported of an alleged Israeli attack which damaged Syria’s Aleppo Airport.

According to the military of Syria, as cited by state media, Israel “carried out an air attack from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, West of Latakia, Targeting Aleppo International Airport.”

Several explosions were heard at the airport.

Following the incident, the airport was put out of service.

It can be noted that just recently, Syria has suffered a devastating earthquake which has killed thousands.

Several countries have sent aid to Syria through its Aleppo Airport.

However, now that the airport is out of service, humanitarian aid has been rerouted to Damascus – more than 4 hour drive from Aleppo – and Latakia – more than 2 hours.

It can be recalled that US top military official General Mark Milley made an unannounced visit to northeast Syria over the weekend in an area controlled by US-allied Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Meanwhile, Israel is yet to comment on the airstrike.
