Japan’s PM Kishida to announce Central Asia aid package

JAPANESE Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is set to announce an economic aid package for central asia during a meeting with regional leaders in Kazakhstan this month.

The package aims to strengthen ties and promote sustainable economic development, countering the influence of China and Russia.

Kishida will visit Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia from August 9 to 12.

The aid plan focuses on establishing a trade route through the Caspian Sea, promoting decarbonization with Japanese technology and loans, and accepting skilled workers from Central Asia.

The five Central Asian countries involved are Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, all rich in natural resources.

This initiative seeks to enhance the region’s economic independence and geopolitical significance, with a joint statement expected after the summit.
