Japan’s Tepco ends first phase of one discharge of ‘treated’ radioactive wastewater

TOKYO Electric Company said that the first phase of their discharge of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea is scheduled to end as planned.

The first phase contains 7,800 tons of nuclear-contaminated water that was dumped into the ocean, and the second phase will possibly begin as early as late September.

Chinese Premier Li criticized that dumping nuclear-contaminated water will cause global marine and economic problems.

Japan started discharging nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean on August 24.

In the recent talks between China, Japan, and South Korea in Jakarta, Indonesia, Tokyo said it will continue providing information regarding the wastewater discharge.
