JOINT authorities seized illicit (untaxed) cigarettes on board a motorbanca with an estimated market value of ₱3.875 million in the vicinity waters of Sitio Malabong, Barangay 2, Ilog, Negros Occidental, on 09 July 2024.
The Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV) joined the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and Bantay Dagat – Ilog in arresting the crew and confiscating the items contained in approximately 155 boxes.
The CGDWV turned over the illicit cigarettes to the BIR Region 12, while the PNP – Ilog took custody over the crew for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
