THE Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion (“Lick ‘Em”) and the Philippine National Police, in coordination with the Libacao, Aklan local government unit (LGU) and concerned agencies, provided a proper burial for the exhumed remains of a former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member in Libacao, Aklan.
Edwin Cachuela Mariano, alias “Cyrus,” a former member of the dismantled Central Front, Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay, was laid to rest on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Libacao Catholic Cemetery. Mariano, a resident of Brgy. Katipunan, Tapaz, Capiz.
Despite Mariano’s past affiliation with the CTG, the government recognizes that every Filipino deserves respect, both in life and in death.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to upholding human dignity and fostering peace, unity, and reconciliation within communities.
The 12th Infantry Battalion continues to work closely with LGUs, government agencies, and communities to foster peace and development, while extending assistance to those seeking reintegration into society.
