Low risk areas to remain in community quarantine —DILG

Department of Interior and Local Government or DILG has announced that low-risk areas will keep their community quarantine status.

This was clarified by DILG Secretary Eduardo Año during a press briefing on Wednesday.

Año is taking back what was announced by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) based on Resolution No. 35 that removes low-risk areas from quarantine.

the areas include 8 regions, 37 provinces, 11 cities, and BARMM.

Año explained that amendments were made on the resolution after local chief executives, governors, and mayors requested to retain their status saying that they’re not yet ready for the lifting of the community quarantine amid threat of the deadly coronavirus.

“Ang ibig sabihin, modified GCQ, magkakaroon pa rin ang ating local government chief executives ng guidelines  kung papaano nya ipatutupad ang  ang modified GCQ  para sa ganoon ay meron siyang kapangyarihan na magagamit na matigil ang pag-spread  ng virus,” said Año.

To recall, starting May 16 to May 31, National Capital Region (NCR), Laguna and Cebu City will be placed under modified ECQ.
