BRAZILIAN President Lula da Silva urged the United States to stop encouraging war in Ukraine following his state visit to China.
Lula made a strong statement as he concluded his state visit to China.
“The United States needs to stop encouraging war and start talking about peace.”
“The European Union needs to start talking about peace,” according to President Lula da Silva, Brazil.
Lula believes that making such moves would be able to convince Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, that peace is in the interest of the whole world.
Furthermore,
“It is important to have patience but above all, it is necessary to convince the countries that are supplying weapons, encouraging the war, to stop,” said Lula.
Lula was in China for an official state visit wherein he declared that Brazil is committed to developing closer relations with China from the strategic perspective of promoting the establishment of a just and reasonable international order.
Prior to his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Lula had sought to position his country as part of a group that could mediate the conflict, although he did not elaborate on the matter of such talks with Xi after their meeting on Friday.
Lula is seeking Brazil’s geopolitical comeback after he assumed the presidency in January 2023.
Last week, he promised Brazil’s comeback, saying that Brazil is back on the international stage, after an inexplicable absence.
“We are back on the international stage, after an inexplicable absence,” said Lula.
The Brazilian President’s series of comments during his trip to China will likely draw the attention of the US.
To recall, in February 2023, Lula met with US President Joe Biden in the White House, and the two leaders talked about efforts to fight anti-democratic extremism and climate change.
