Macron calls on French defense firms to boost production

AS the Russia-Ukraine conflict nears two years since it began, Kyiv said that its forces were facing a ‘very real and pressing’ shortage of ammunition.

And since the war began, France’s President Emmanuel Macron has called for the defense industry to switch to “war economy mode”.

Macron said that defense firms must never again be satisfied with production deadlines that extend over several years as the current world no longer allows that.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a French Senate report said that Paris and other European nations were ‘not up to the challenge’ of meeting the ammunition needs of Kyiv.

Aside from this, European parliament lawmakers said that only 300-K shells of the promised 1-M shells have been delivered by early 2024.

Macron said that they could let Russia think that it could win the war because, according to the French president, a Russian victory would mean the end of European security.
