MARINA and NMP sign MOU to enhance maritime training

THE Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) inks a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) on 23 April 2024 at NMP, Cabalawan, Tacloban City.

The said MOU stemmed from a series of consultations of MARINA with NMP in crafting the new Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028 wherein the need to strengthen collaboration for the MIDP to move forward and to have a stronger narrative for the maritime industry was identified.

Further, the MOU lays down the joint commitment of the parties to cooperate in research and development, design and development of training standards and capacity building, with the view to foster cooperation, collaboration and partnership towards ensuring the sustainability and continued development of the maritime industry.

Both parties committed to remain steadfast in implementing the MOU through a governmental approach, and fostering a holistic learning approach to carry out plans and programs effectively. The collaboration is indeed a manifestation of both parties toward excellence, innovation, and sustainability.

In attendance from MARINA was Administrator Sonia Malaluan, STCWO Exec. Director Samuel Batalla, PPS Director Luisito Delos Santos, MARINA ROVIII Regional Director Atty. Eusebia Cadlum-Boco; from NMP was Exec. Director Victor Del Rosario, Deputy Exec. Director Mayla Macadawan; and from the Department of Migrant Workers is the Director of Sea-Based Accreditation Bureau, Augusto B. San Diego III, and key personnel from agencies present.
