Media entities without franchise could not continue operations —franchise lawyer

FRANCHISE lawyer Rolex Suplico reiterated in an exclusive interview with SMNI News that a TV or radio station cannot continue operating without a franchise from the Congress.

It’s about the scheduled closing of the franchise with the Kapamilya Network or ABS-CBN today.

According to Suplico, the resolution and letters made by some lawmakers in the Senate also will not help to extend the authority of the Kapamilya network.

However, Suplico clarified that the network still has the right to apply for a new franchise at the time the current franchise expires.

“Pwede sila mag-apply uli ng prangkisa. Kung ma-isyuhan sila ng prangkisa, takbo sila sa NTC, mag-apply sila ng kanilang mga istasyon,”he said.
