VIDEOS posted by residents from the U.S. State of Nevada are currently going viral on social media garnering millions of views as equally, millions of Mormon crickets have made the city of Elko their home.
Footages show these insects blanketing various parts of the state including roads, residents’ driveways, backyards, walls, and even healthcare facilities.
Nevadans have been attempting to remove them from their property with a leaf blower only to be unsuccessful as these insects simply crawl their way back in and there are just too many of them.
They are not known to bite or harm humans, however, they can cause widespread damage to crops and other vegetation, as well as contribute to soil erosion.
These insects are cannibals and will devour one another if no other food source is available.
Some say that the sound of crickets being crushed by tires can be compared to stepping on popcorn.
And when the roads get covered with crickets and they get run over, it gets slick.
To recall, the last outbreak of crickets in the state of Nevada happened back in the year 2006.
And with this story, many are reminded of the times of Moses as told in the bible when Egypt was hit with 10 plagues.
