More protests as PM frontrunner’s PM bid got rejected

A group of protester supporting the most popular party in Thailand, Move Forward Party (MFP), held protests in numerous places in Bangkok this week.

Rallies sprung in different places in Bangkok this week in defense of Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat as he faced legal challenges and temporarily suspended his parliament duties.

The student organization of Thailand, the United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration and the Talugas Group have announced scheduled rallies for Friday and Saturday.

A political activist also called for another gathering on Sunday to express moral support for Pita and even invited him to attend the rally.

To recall, Thailand’s constitution suspended the Move Forward Party leader from the parliament over his controversial media shares which is considered a violation of Thailand’s election rules.

The 42 year old prime ministerial candidate denied violating the law.

Meanwhile, another network organizing mass protests in the past four years also called on senators to resign and to demonstrate their opposition against “distorted democracy”.

Protest leaders called for the immediate resignation of senators who attempted to block Pita and called for the eight-party coalition led by the progressive Move Forward Party to remain united.
