THE Davao City Public Employment Services Office placed a total of 33, 128 job seekers in 2024, based on its recorded data.
Of the total number, 32,553 were placed in private companies while 575 were placed overseas.
PESO Manager Lilibeth Pantinople, in an interview with Madayaw Davao on Tuesday, said that the total number of placements included TUPAD beneficiaries and those hired through the job fairs and other PESO programs.
Pantinople said that throughout the year, they have conducted a total of 42 job fairs that contributed to the huge placement turnout.
A total of 55, 949 vacancies were posted by private companies through their office.
On November 21, 2024, the Department of Labor and Employment XI also recognized the PESO for its Outstanding Job Fair Implementation as it is able to conduct job fair initiatives resulting in the highest percentage of Hired-On-The-Spot placements. The PESO was also awarded the Outstanding Placement and Achievement Award for achieving a placement rate of 90 percent or above from January to October of 2024.
The office also actively utilized the PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) where job vacancies from companies are encoded by the staff and where companies can generate the details of those who applied for the positions.
Pantinople said that behind the achievements they received in 2024 is the unwavering support that the agency received from the local government unit and councilors and SK, who sponsored job fairs in the communities away from the city’s center.
Pantinople said this year, they are looking forward to more cooperation by barangays for the establishment of the barangay employment services office where the PESO also cascades information on job vacancies.
As a year starter, PESO has scheduled a job fair on January 31 at Crossing Bayabas Toril, February 7 at Tugbok Gym, and February 14 at the Calinan Gym.
Pantinople advised Dabawenyos to always check the Davao City Peso Page, where announcements on vacancies are made.
“Sa Davao City PESO didto ginapost ang job vacancies, ang job seekers pwede sila maka-register online naa’y chance nga matawag sa company partner (It is on the Davao City PESO page where the job vacancies are posted, the job seekers may also register through this page, and be given a chance to be notified by company partners),”Pantinople said.
