According to the Phuket Immigration Office, words have spread about the delicious food and good weather in Thailand urging tourists to keep coming to the province.
Many Russians seek are obtaining Visas that are good for three months or not more than 90 days.
Phuket welcomes at least 10,000 people a day or an average of 300,000 foreign visitors a month while their numbers just keep on rising as borders reopened.
Russians account for the most number of visitors traveling to Phuket followed by Indians, Kazakhs, British, and Australians.
The Immigration police have launched a so-called “white accommodation” that features drug and crime-free accommodation to ensure the safety of foreign nationals and local residents.
Nearly 40% of condominiums in Phuket are owned by foreigners while Russians bought 74 properties on the island worth $7.3 million, according to a Thai real estate consultancy firm.
The Immigration office said that a total of 31,128 foreign nationals are seeking to extend their visas and stay longer in Phuket.
