Ms. Universe Bahrain and Pakistan to promote PH Halal Tourism

MISS Universe reigning queens of Bahrain and Pakistan have arrived in the Philippines to train for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.

But besides their Miss Universe training stint, Bahrain’s Lujane Yacoub and Pakistan’s Erica Robin are also here in the country to promote the Filipino brand of wellness and halal tourism.

This is made possible through a collaboration between the Department of Tourism, The Farm at San Benito, and XPEDITION Magazine Middle East.

“It’s my job as a Pakistani ambassador to tell them that the Philippines offers halal food. And it’s beautiful and I would recommend you to come because it has everything to offer coming from a Muslim country. Halal food, also beautiful sceneries, beautiful landscapes, and most importantly Philippines is very welcoming,” according to Erica Robin, Miss Universe Pakistan 2023.

“Filipinos that I’ve met, are creative. They’re talented. I think that only helps my country to visit it more. And the fact that we have places like The Farm that provide halal options, even in the Philippines if you look around, there are many types of restaurants, they are many types of establishments. So it’s there it’s open for anyone to enjoy,” Lujane Yacoub, Miss Universe Bahrain 2023 said.

The reigning queens will first stay at the Farm at San Benito the pioneering destination for wellness and halal tourism.

The multi-awarded holistic medical wellness resort is at the forefront of promoting the Filipino brand of wellness and offering halal experiences for travelers from around the world.

DOT optimistic that Ph Halal Tourism will flourish more

With this initiative, the DOT believes that halal tourism will prosper more in the coming days.

Tourism Usec. Myra Paz Valderosa-Abubakar is optimistic that the influence of Miss Universe Queens will bring more tourists coming from the Gulf region.

“Pagkatapos nitong pangyayari na ito ay bukas pa lang madami na tayong Muslim na kapatid na gusto ng pumunta sa Pilipinas at bumisita sa atin para makita nila kung ano naman ang mayroon tayo with regard to Muslim-friendly tourism and halal tourism,” according to Usec. Myra Paz Valderosa-Abubakar, Department or Tourism.

Recently, the Philippines has been awarded as the Emerging Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year at the Halal Travel Global Summit 2023 held in Singapore.

The country also rises to No. 7 among the top 20 Non-OIC or Non-Organization of Islamic Countries destinations, tied with Germany and South Africa.

It also ranked no. 36 overall among 138 destinations in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2023 by Mastercard Crescent Rating.

5-star halal wellness resort encourages fellow businesses to consider halal in their offering

Meanwhile, Ms. Jennifer Sanvictores of The Farm at San Benito encourages tourism establishments, resorts, and hotels to take into consideration halal in their offering.

She believes that it will open doors of opportunities and will attract more foreign tourists.

“It brings a bigger opportunity to attract foreign travelers to our country not only from the Gulf region but also coming from the ASEAN Region,” Jennifer Sanvictores, Global Head of Sales, Marketing & Communications, The Farm at San Benito said.

The DOT has recorded a nationwide total of 289 Halal Certified or Muslim-friendly accommodation establishments and 237 Halal Certified restaurants.

Sanvictores added that aside from halal tourism, the country’s health and wellness tourism is also unmatched.

“The Philippines is a prime and premium destination for healing and wellness. First and foremost Filipino hospitality, heartfelt healthcare, service, and genuine care are unmatched. And it is known globally,” Sanvictore added.
