NAVAL Special Operations Unit-2 (NAVSOU 2), known as the “Highland Frogs of the North,” operates under Naval Forces Northern Luzon, covering Regions I to III, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Batanes Islands. The diverse area of responsibility, encompassing varied terrains and expansive waters, serves as a training ground for their specialized missions in SEAL, diving, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), and special boat operations.
NAVSOU 2 has demonstrated operational excellence through achievements such as EOD disposal missions, joint exercises with the US Navy, and successful interdiction operations.
Their collaboration with SEAL Team 1 of the US Navy has enhanced their maritime domain awareness and tactical skills, aligning with the Philippine Navy’s Active Archipelagic Defense Strategy (AADS). These efforts ensure readiness in addressing challenges in strategically vital areas, including the West Philippine Sea.
As the Highland Frogs of the country’s Northern Frontier, NAVSOU 2 remains vigilant, innovative, adaptive, and dedicated to accomplishing its missions while supporting the Philippine Navy’s broader objectives.
