New Mutya ng Dabaw winners to act as tourism ambassadresses

THE Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) met with the newly crowned Mutya ng Dabaw winners to align their programs and projects and also to set dates for their contract signing as tourism ambassadresses.

Hanna Maj Piccio (Mutya ng Dabaw 2024), Jan Marine Rendon (Diwa ng Dabaw), Euanne Preglo (Sinag ng Dabaw), Fredelma Nova Corporal (Pag-Asa ng Dabaw), and Abigail Balili (Patnubay ng Dabaw) were present during the regular flag ceremony on Monday as they prepare to take their roles as ambassadresses for Davao City during their reign.

CTOO Head Jennifer Romero told Madayaw Dabaw that the Mutya ng Dabaw winners started to set up their tasks as ambassadress and also to lay the groundwork for their advocacies.

“We invited them to join the flag ceremony so that they will feel that they are part of the LGU because they will be employed for the entire year of their reign. After the flag ceremony we will have our orientation and meeting so that we will be able to align and will have a contract signing so that they can start working already,” Romero said.

Romero said that this year will be a better year for them because the CTOO will push and implement their advocacies.

“What we will do is implement their advocacy so that it will not be limited to the competition only and they have to put their advocacy into action, so that is our goal for this set of Mutya,” she said.

Piccio, in an interview with Madayaw Dabaw on Monday, said that she is very excited to do her tasks during her reign. She is also excited to implement her advocacies.

“I feel really really excited and of course I feel really honored. I’ve been wanting to work with City Tourism and with Davao City for a long while and now that I finally have the chance, I am really honored and really excited and I look forward to the coming days. We are actually gonna have a meeting later with City Tourism and Maam Jen, so we are looking at ways to collaborate with the Davao City Tourism Office to promote tourism and at the same time to also push for our advocacies so I am really looking forward to that,” Piccio said.

Piccio said that she seeks to push her advocacies: body positivity and ecotourism during her reign.

“For body positivity we want to pursue school caravans to promote body positivity and campaign about it and also I want to pursue also a fashion show to open up the Davao fashion into more sizes, and also I want to conduct workshops so that people can find new avenues where they can flourish. For ecotourism, something that I’ve always done before is travel vlogging and making documentaries about the environment. This time, I hope to have a larger audience and also to unify the social media influencers that we have in Davao City so that as one we can promote ecotourism and also learn from each other,” she said.

The Mutya ng Dabaw 2024 was crowned last March 15, 2024 at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) Gym. The beauty pageant was among the highlights of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw. CIO
