RUSSIAN Former President Dmitry Medvedev, also the current deputy chairman of the country’s Security Council, made a chilling call for the elimination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a form of retaliation for the drone incident that happened in the Kremlin on Wednesday night.
In a strongly-word statement, Medvedev said,
“After there are no other options left other than the physical elimination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his clique,” said Dmitry Medvedev, Former President of Russia.
To Medvedev, Zelenskyy is not needed to sign an instrument of unconditional surrender.
And that, quote
“Hitler, as is known, did not sign it either. There will always be someone like Admiral Doenitz to sit in as president.”
The former Russian president’s anger came after the Kremlin claimed that it was attacked by two Ukrainian drones overnight, calling the incident a “planned terrorist attack”.
The Kremlin believes that Kyiv’s plan was to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin and that Russia reserves the right to respond to an attempted strike against Ukraine where and when it sees fit.
“Russia reserves the right to respond to an attempted strike on the Kremlin where and when it sees fit,” statement of the Kremlin.
After the drone attack, Russian Minister, of State Duma Vladimir Vasilyev said on Thursday that Ukraine and its sponsors’ alleged attempt to take out Putin was not only an attack on the president but also on Russian society.
Vasilyev urged Russians to defend the country and President Putin, saying and quote, today,
“Terrorism has raised its head again and is targeting the very heart of Russia. Attacks targeting the president are targeting each one of us.”
“To thwart them, maximal consolidation, vigilance, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies and special services are needed. And the most important thing is to understand that all of us must defend the motherland and the president,” said Vladimir Vasilyev, Russian State.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian government has denied Russia’s accusations, with Zelenskyy saying that Kyiv does not have enough weapons to carry out such acts.
Zelenskyy made the remarks at a press conference in Helsinki following his meeting with the leaders of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
Zelenskyy’s Presidential Aide, Mikhail Podolyak, said the drone attack was guerilla activities of local resistance forces and likewise insisted that Kyiv was conducting an exclusively defensive war and did not attack targets on Russia’s territory.
