NTC ordered the closure of ABS-CBN Corporation

THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released this afternoon a ‘Cease and Desist Order’ against ABS-CBN Corporation over its expired congressional franchise.

The NTC has ordered the Kapamilya Network to cease operations on various TV and radio broadcasting stations nationwide.

ABS-CBN has also been given ten days from receiving the order to respond as to why the frequencies assigned to it should not be recalled.

ABS-CBN’s 25-year franchise expires on May 04, 2020.

Upon the expiration of RA 7966, which granted ABS-CBN a 25-year franchise, the network has no longer a valid and subsisting congressional franchise as required by Act No. 3846.

After the receipt of ABS-CBN’s response, the NTC expected to schedule the case for hearing at the earliest time after the Enhanced Community Quarantine is lifted by the Government.
