THE Palace has made it clear that overseas Filipino workers’ payment for Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) premium is now voluntary.
This is to fund the Universal Health Care Law that was enacted last year.
According to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered PhilHealth to make OFW payments voluntary.
It can be remembered, the premium contribution of OFWs has increased from 2.75 to 3% with a salary of P10, 000 to P60, 000 per month.
Therefore, some OFWs have expressed their opposition because they disagree with PhilHealth’s decision.
