Palestinian president arrives in China for 4-day visit

A ceremony was held for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the great hall of the people in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.

Abbas was welcomed by a military band playing the national anthems of China and Palestine, as well as a 21-gun salute.

The Palestinian president arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a 4-day visit to China, marking his fourth state visit to the country.

Abbas made state visits to China in 2005, 2010, 2013, and 2017.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Abbas is the first head of an Arab State who visited China this year. His trip follows the 35th-anniversary celebration of the diplomatic ties between Palestine and China.

China is one of the countries that has recognized the Palestine Liberation Organization and the State of Palestine.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Beijing is ready to cooperate with the world for a comprehensive, just, and stable solution to the Palestine issue.
