NASA Senado ngayong araw si Vice President Inday Sara Duterte para sa deliberarsyon ng 2023 budget ng OVP.
Ang OVP na may panukalang P2.92-B na badyet, kabilang na ang P500-M na confidential fund ay agad na naipasa ng wala pang 30 minuto.
Mayorya ng mga senador ay nagpakita ng suporta rito, kung saan tanging si Minority Floor Leader Senador Koko Pimentel lamang ang nagtangkang harangin ang confidential fund.
“Just as I manifested that I will move for the reduction – hindi lang (not only) deduction in the Office of the President – deletion of the intelligence fund in the Office of the President. At the proper time, I will move for the deletion of the confidential funds for the Office of the Vice President,” pahayag ni Minority Leader Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
Hiniling din ni Pimentel na mailipat ang confidential fund upang pondohan ang operasyon ng iba pang ahensiya tulad ng Philippine Postal Corporation ngunit ito ay hindi sinang-ayunan ni Senador Sonny Angara, ang sponsor ng 2023 national budget at Chairperson ng Senate Finance Committee.
Ipinagtanggol ni Angara ang budget ng OVP.
Aniya, nararapat lamang na suportahan ng Senado ang hiling na budget ng opisina ng Pangalawang Pangulo.
“Although PhilPost may have a need, I think maybe we should look for other sources and not prejudice the Office of the Vice President as the second highest official of the land who deserves our support,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa nagdaang linggo ay una na ring kinuwestiyon ni Pimentel ang P8.9-B budget ng Office of the President.
Mula sa nasabing halaga ay P2.25-B ang nakalaan sa confidential fund, at isa pang P2.25-B ang ipinondo sa intelligence fund.
Pero sa deliberasyon ay ipinaliwanag ni Angara na kailangan ng Pangulo ang nasabing budget para sa mapagkakatiwalaang impormasyon at mapanatili ang kaayusan.
