Pasay City fire victims receive immediate aid as Bong Go calls for heightened fire prevention efforts

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extends immediate support to fire victims in Pasay City in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office, on Friday, November 14.

A lost life is a lost life forever. Pangalagaan at ingatan po natin ang buhay at kalusugan ng bawat isa,” said Go in a message.

Go highlighted that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is currently undergoing a modernization program aimed at enhancing its capabilities and readiness in responding to fire-related incidents under Republic Act No. 11589, or the BFP Modernization Act of 2021 which he principally authored and co-sponsored.

Held at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School, the 134 affected families received essential aid from Go’s team such as grocery packs, snacks, shirts, water containers, masks, vitamins, basketballs, and volleyballs. Additionally, there were select recipients of shoes and a mobile phone.

As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Senator Go urged the residents to take advantage of the medical assistance available for indigent patients offered by the Malasakit Center at Pasay City General Hospital.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop designed to streamline medical assistance programs from various government agencies, ensuring that Filipinos can access medical assistance to overcome the financial burden of healthcare costs.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The Department of Health reports that the Malasakit Center program has already provided aid to more than 15 million Filipinos.
