THE Department of Tourism (DOT) brings together on Monday (Dec 16) leaders, advocates, and experts as it proudly hosts the National Ecotourism Summit at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City, aimed at shaping the future of sustainable tourism in the Philippines.
The event highlights the unveiling of the National Ecotourism Strategy and Action Plan (NESAP) 2024-2028 with its collective commitment on balancing environmental conservation, cultural preservation and economic growth.
Key milestones of the day include the turnover of leadership of the National Ecotourism Development Council (NEDC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to the DOT, with Secretary Christina Frasco at its helm; approval of the NESAP roadmap to make the Philippines a global leader in ecotourism while empowering local communities; and, an ecotourism forum of experts and stakeholders with the sharing of insights on creating a resilient ecotourism destinations, fostering community engagements, and enhancing ecotourism governance.
The NESAP 2024-2028 is more than a plan—it’s a vision to transform the Philippines into a premier ecotourism destination while ensuring the benefits are felt by the people who care for these treasures the most. From climate-resilient infrastructures to innovative financing and digital transformation, this strategy promises to redefine sustainable tourism in our country.
