PINANGUNAHAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Felipe Medalla ang paglulunsad ng Philippine Independence Commemorative coins sa Malacañang Palace nitong Lunes, Hunyo 5.
Ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ay nakiisa sa paggunita sa ika-125 Anibersaryo ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas na may temang “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan at Kasaysayan”.
Naglabas ang BSP ng tatlong commemorative coin set na may 100 piso coin na gumugunita sa deklarasyon ng Philippine Independence noong 1898; 20 piso coin na sumisimbolo sa pagsilang ng unang Republika ng Pilipinas sa Barasoain Church at 5 piso coin na sumisimbolo sa katapangan ng mga Pilipinong lumaban para sa sa soberanya ng Pilipnas noong Philippine-American War.
Sa kaniyang talumpati, binigyang-diin ni Pangulong Marcos ang kahalagahan ng commemorative coins na ito sa paggunita sa Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas at nagpaabot ng pasasalamat.
“In a very real sense, the establishment of a formal currency, like any country, is part of the definition of being a sovereign nation.”
“And that’s why we have to see it not just as a very, very nice souvenir but really a commemoration of the creation of the Republic of the Philippines,” mensahe ni Pangulong Marcos.
Samantala, gumamit ang Bangko Sentral ng pinakabagong digital printing technology sa pagbuo ng kauna-unahang colored non-circulation commemorative coins.
Ayon sa Pangulo, nangangahulugan ito na umuunlad na ang ating bansa.
Aniya, ang commemorative coins ay hindi lamang sumisimbolo sa anibersaryo ng kalayaan ng ating bansa kundi ipinapakita rin nito kung gaano na kalayo ang ating narating sa loob ng 125 taon.
“We have used the most modern technology, which also signifies that the Philippines is at that stage in its development that we are now at the forefront and we’ll use the best technologies, the best techniques, everything that is good and new for our country. That’s what it means. It just doesn’t mean that it is the 125th anniversary of the Independence Day but it also reminds us how far we have gone and the significant of what we have achieved in 125 years,” ani Pangulong Marcos.
Kasama ni Pangulong Marcos sa event sa Palasyo sina BSP Governor Felipe Medalla, Secretary Lucas Bersamin, DOF Secretary Benjamin Diokno at iba pang opisyal.
“We are issuing this commemorative coins as part of BSP’s effort to preserve the cultural heritage and promote pride in our shared history.”
“May this serve as an inspiration for us to continue [the collective?] efforts and work toward a better, more prosperous, and more inclusive future for all Filipinos,” ayon kay Gov. Felipe Medalla, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Samantala, pinangungunahan ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines ang pagdiriwang ng 125 Anniversary of the Philippines Independence na may temang “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
