THE Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) has assisted in the humanitarian mission for over 6,800 families affected by the eruption of Mount Kanlaon. The mission took place at the ICP Municipal Hall La Castellana in Negros Occidental and Camp 5 at Panubigan Elementary School in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, on 02 January 2025.
The beneficiaries received essential supplies such as food, water, medical aid, and temporary shelter tents. Livelihood support and psychological aid are also being extended to help families rebuild their lives.
According to the CGDSV, they continue to coordinate with other local government units and partner organizations to address the immediate needs of displaced families. This includes providing logistical and operational support to ensure the safety and well-being of affected communities.
“The CGDSV acknowledges the invaluable collaboration and unity displayed in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable communities and likewise reaffirms its commitment to supporting these initiatives and fostering a culture of care and resilience,” the District expressed.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Army (PA), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also supported the initiative.
