THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has held a Skipper’s Farewell Cruise Ceremony in recognition of PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations, Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr PCG at Pier 13, Port Area, Manila today, 03 December 2024.
The said activity highlights Vice Admiral Punzalan’s achievements and contributions during his tenure at sea.
Vice Admiral Punzalan, known for his leadership and dedication, addressed the attendees, reflecting on his experiences and expressing gratitude towards his colleagues.
His tenure was marked by successful missions including rescue operations, environmental efforts and enhancing maritime safety.
In 2009, he was awarded the coveted Coast Guard Command at Sea Plaque after commanding five PCG commissioned vessels.
The last of which was BRP Pampanga or SARV-003 wherein he had the opportunity of crossing the equator for the second time and as the commanding officer of a PCG vessel.
Vice Admiral Punzalan is known to be a systems person and looks at the systemic issues behind situations and problems. He then infuses solutions employing systems and information technology in both administrative and operational concerns.
“As I take command of my final vessel today, I leave you with a message of unity and resilience to all men and women composing the Coast Guard Fleet- the home of PCG sailors- may you remain steadfast and confident as one unified unit. Trust in your abilities, be each other’s support system and continue fulfilling our responsibilities as the nation’s guardian of the sea,” Vice Admiral Punzalan Jr expressed.
