THE Coast Guard Station Manila and its Sub-units successfully intercepted an undeclared cargo shipment of MV St. Michael at Port of Manila.

In coordination with Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) other agencies, and by following standard protocols, the undeclared cargo was opened on 05 March 2025 revealing 80 boxes of allegedly smuggled cigarettes with an estimated market value of 15.8 million pesos.

The illicit goods were properly concealed within the container using unmarked boxes and packaging tape.

According to CGS Manila, said interception was pursued in line with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of enhancing the ongoing efforts of the PCG in combating smuggling and illicit trade.

PCG, in coordination with other enforcement agencies, is currently conducting further investigations to determine the individuals or entities responsible for the attempted smuggling operation. Appropriate legal actions will be pursued against those found accountable.
