THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has announced the release of the new circular on the “Utilization of the Indo-Pacific Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) platform for information exchange during maritime routine and incident situations” and its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and “Guidelines for the utilization of the Indo-Pacific Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) platform for Information Exchange” at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, on 16 August 2024.
This initiative, in line with the commitment to enhancing Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA) and response capabilities, will strengthen the PCG’s collaboration with national and regional maritime authorities.
The IORIS platform is a vital tool for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of maritime security operations.
Furthermore, the circular and SOP will serve as a guide for all IORIS operators in various Coast Guard operating units.
The Circular and SOP shall be reviewed every five years to incorporate advancements in technology and operational needs.
