PCG rendered assistance to the victims of Mount Kanlaon’s eruption

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rendered assistance to the victims of Mount Kanlaon’s eruption.

The Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) together with Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRMMO) La Castellana personnel distributed of meals to 83 families at Colegio de La Castellana Evacuation Center.

Moreover, the response team assisted in the unloading of PPE’s from DOH and relief goods at Plaza, Barangay Robles, La Castellana Negros Occidental. Despite having most of the families within the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) already evacuated, the MDRMMO La Castellana remains on standby for additional evacuees.

In response to the eruption, the CGDSV, through Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Negros Occidental and CGS Southern Occidental and various agencies have mobilized its efforts to ensure community safety and support. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) activated a quick response team and coordinated transport and clearance of goods with the Philippine Coast Guard.

According to the CGDSV, this deployment is in line with the PCG’s goals to ensure safety of the community within their jurisdiction. The CGDSV is continuously exerting efforts in assisting the people of Negros Island Region especially during the aftermath of the Mount Kanlaon’s Eruption.
