THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has welcomed Mr. Miyamoto Shingo, the Deputy Director General and Deputy Assistant Minister of Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in his courtesy visit at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, yesterday, 03 December 2024.
During the meeting, discussions focused on further solidifying the longstanding partnership between the Philippines and Japan, contributing to enhanced regional maritime security.
Mr. Miyamoto expressed his gratitude to PCG for its broader contribution to enhancing regional safety, maintaining security, and deepening bilateral ties. He also emphasized his willingness to support the missions of the organization.
“Our shared efforts reflect a deep understanding of the complexities of our current geopolitical landscape. We recognize the importance of upholding the rule of law in maritime governance, particularly in the face of emerging challenges,” Mr. Miyamoto said.
For his part, Coast Guard Strategic Studies and International Affairs Center (CGSSIAC) Director, Commodore Rommel Supangan PCG, highlighted the significance of Philippine-Japan partnership, specifically in exploring innovative solutions to shared challenges.
“May this visit deepen our partnership… and chart a course towards a future where our maritime cooperation continues to serve as a beacon of strength and mutual benefit,” Commodore Supangan furthered.
