PH economic team begins U.S.-Canada non-deal roadshow

RECENTLY, the Philippine economic team briefed international business and financial communities in North America on the latest developments concerning the country’s economic performance, investment opportunities, and the administration’s development plan.

Philippine Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has presented to global investors the Philippines’ priority expenditures in the Fiscal Year 2023 national budget and talked about how these expenses will unfold in the realization of the goals in the national strategy for development from 2023 to 2028.

Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Benjamin Diokno delivered the keynote address, while Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona, Jr, discussed the performance and outlook of the monetary, external, and financial sectors.

In addition, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan covered infrastructure investment and development.

Thursday’s event at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, Canada, comes after the Philippine economic team had a series of successful briefings in Europe, Washington D.C., and Singapore earlier this year.

It can be noted that economic managers are expecting the Philippine economy to expand by 6-7% in 2023 after it accelerated by 6.4% in this year’s first quarter.

To add, the Philippine economic team is also expected to join a panel discussion on the country’s economic outlook and investment opportunities moderated by DBM Undersecretary Margaux Salcedo and BSP Managing Director Tony Lambino, as well as an additional panel discussion on the private sector’s views on the Philippine economic development agenda and investment climate.
