PH Navy enhances Maritime Security with Surface Action Groups

THE Philippine Navy has started deploying “Surface Action Groups” to strengthen its patrols and protect the country’s maritime territories and jurisdictions.
“We will be veering away from the conduct of lone ship or ‘lone wolf’ operations, to the deployment of several warships at any given time. Now that we deploy ‘Surface Action Groups’ patrolling our seas, we can cover more of our areas and jurisdictions,” said Captain John Percie Alcos, PN Spokesperson.
This move is part of the Navy’s focus on improving its warfighting capabilities, aligning with the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC) to protect the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The Navy also welcomes the possibility of integrating these Surface Action Groups into future Maritime Cooperative Activities with other like-minded navies or during the “Balikatan” exercises.
