Philippine Army’s statement on the child trafficking conviction of Satur Ocampo, France Castro and their co-accused

THE Philippine Army welcomes the Tagum City Regional Trial Court’s (RTC) decision convicting Satur Ocampo, France Castro, and their co-accused of child trafficking. This landmark decision stems from their orchestration of the 2018 incident in Talaingod, Davao del Norte when they transported 14 minors who are part of indigenous peoples (IP) communities under the guise of a “rescue mission.” Justice has finally been served for the Talaingod IP children and other victims who have fallen prey to their manipulations.

Their conviction underscores that our justice system is indeed working. It sends a clear message that individuals who exploit and endanger the lives of IP children by exposing them to false and dangerous ideologies will be held accountable under our laws.

The Philippine Army remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all Filipinos, particularly vulnerable groups that are often targeted by deceitful beliefs.
