PNP to take lead of Philippine gov’t in dealing with ICC

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) stressed that it will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the drug war campaign of the Duterte administration.

The PNP stressed that it will take the lead on what the country’s national leadership would say on the matter.

This is the PNP’s stance following the ICC’s decision to reject the Philippines’ appeal on the continuation of the probe into the alleged excesses of the Duterte administration’s war on drugs campaign.

The PNP said it will not issue any documents for the ICC, as they have already responded to the investigation conducted by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

PNP also said it will fully support and acknowledge the jurisdiction of the Philippine government as to the nature of the probe.

And if the ICC insists on sending its representatives to the country, the PNP assured that it follows the right process by following the mandate of the national leadership.

The PNP also challenged those who continue to push for the ICC probe related to the alleged abuses that happened during the war on drugs campaign of the Duterte administration, saying that they should contact or cooperate with the Department of Justice and present their evidence.
