JOINT Task Force COVID Shield Commander Lt. General Guillermo Eleazar will immediately close malls that fail to implement the physical distancing and minimum health standards of the Department of Health (DOH).
This is in accordance with the order issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.
According to Eleazar, they will not only close the malls but will also lead the filing of the case
against the management, if they are found to be in violation of these policies.
Eleazar ordered the police commanders to conduct regular inspections at their mall premises to monitor the movement of the people.
Eleazar said he had also given police commanders a list of malls that had breached the first day of the implementation of the modified enhanced quarantine community (MECQ) to give them a warning.
Meanwhile, DILG has warned all malls allowed to open under the existing MECQ.
DILG Secretary said they will shut down malls that fail to enforce strict physical distancing and are unable to comply with the IATF guidelines.
Año said he assigned the LGUs and the Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield to inspect all the malls and contact their management.
