A political analyst has long suspected the spreading of an anti-vax campaign against China during the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported by Reuters. He cites two main reasons why America did this.
“Now, why are we somewhat targeted, especially regarding COVID-19 disinformation, anti-vax, anti-vaccination? It’s because we are at the center point of their conflict with China,” according to Adolfo Paglinawan, Former Philippine Diplomat | Political Analyst.
According to political analyst and former Philippine diplomat Adolfo “Ka Ado” Paglinawan, the Philippines is not the only country targeted by America in spreading disinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says America prioritized the country due to the foreign policy of former President Rodrigo Duterte of being close to China.
“Is that your friend? That’s what will give you COVID-19,” said Paglinawan.
Ka Ado mentioned that he has long suspected this issue, so he was not surprised, especially since it was international media, Reuters, that exposed it.
“According to Reuters’ analysis and medical journals, they did this primarily to establish that it has something to do with the geopolitical conflict in which the Philippines is involved against China,” he added.
Aside from this, Paglinawan points out another reason why America wants this to happen to China. This is because of the big pharmaceutical companies whose sole aim is to sell vaccines.
”They don’t want us to buy most of our vaccines, especially Sinovac from China.”
“In fact, they also used that as leverage against our foreign policy that if President Duterte does not ease the rejection of what the United States military is asking for, they will also skimp on vaccines for us.”
“They want to slow down our vaccination program using Chinese vaccines, Sinopharm and Sinovac, so they can sell more to us. So, money is also involved here, that’s a lot of money,” he stressed.
Recently, the investigative report by Reuters titled “Pentagon Ran Secret Anti-Vax Campaign to Undermine China During Pandemic” became a hot topic on social media. The report alleges that the US created propaganda during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to scare people away from getting vaccinated with Chinese-made vaccines.
