PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has offered P30, 000 reward money to anyone who can bring charges against corrupt local government officials for pocketing aid intended for the poor.
This was announced by Presidential spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque and he said they should not hesitate to call the hotline number 8888.
Roque added that such rewards would be provided when the corruption complaint against local officials was confirmed.
The Palace spokesman said that this was in line with President Duterte’s ‘zero tolerance’ against corruption, especially for government officials who have stolen financial assistance provided for the poor Filipinos.
It will be remembered the police have arrested a barangay councilor named Danilo Flores in Hagonoy, Bulacan after he allegedly pocketed more than half of the P6, 500 cash aid under the government’s social amelioration program (SAP).
Flores was caught on a video telling SAP financial assistance beneficiaries that they would only be given the cash aid of P3, 000 while the remaining P3, 500 would be given to the mayor for distribution to those who did not qualify for the SAP financial assistance. However, Hagonoy Mayor Raulito Manlapaz denied any involvement in the alleged anomalies in the distribution of SAP cash aid.
