Pres. Marcos anticipates the expansion of bilateral relations between the PH and Brazil

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. warmly received the accreditations of Gilberto Fonseca Guimarães de Moura, the new Brazilian Ambassador to the Philippines.

The credentials ceremony took place at Malacañang Palace on January 16, 2024.

Marcos said he looks forward to the deepening of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Brazil with the acceptance of the new Brazilian envoy in the country.

The chief executive also emphasized that Brazil has been a valued partner of the Philippines in technical cooperation, agriculture, trade and investment, defense, and environmental protection.

President Marcos is also hopeful for stronger collaboration in these areas.

Meanwhile, Marcos expressed his support for Brazil’s hosting of the 30th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30), under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2025.

He also reiterated the commitment of the Philippines to continued cooperation and support for the guidelines of the United Nations and other multilateral fora.

On the other hand, Brazilian Ambassador Fonseca Guimarães de Moura, emphasized Brazil’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the Philippines.

The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1946.

Both nations are set to celebrate the 78th year of their diplomatic relations in July of this year.
