Province of Ilocos Sur now COVID-19 free, Gov. Ryan Singson announced

Province of Ilocos Sur has finally cleared of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) when the last and its only infected patient recovered from the virus so the Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis Singson announced it on social media that the entire province has now free of COVID-19.

In a statement, Singson said the confirmed COVID-19 case at Barangay Magsaysay in Tagudin has already tested negative for the disease after another swab test.
He said the barangay would now be opened after it was placed under lockdown.

“The residents will join the general public in the observance of strict home quarantine with privilege to go out for basic necessities,” Singson said.

“The province of Ilocos Sur is now free of COVID-19,” he added.

The governor also bared that 17 swab tests yielded negative results.

Of the number, 11 belong to patients presently confined at various hospitals while six were already dead.

“Each of the six PUI deaths is now cleared from COVID-19. Be assured, however, that their remains were properly handled for precautionary measures,” he said.

Despite being COVID-free, Singson urged residents to stay home and follow the guidelines of the government.
