PHILIPPINE Sports Commission Chairman Richard E. Bachmann, Commissioners Olivia “Bong” G. Coo, and Walter Francis K. Torres welcomed Powerlifting Association of the Philippines (PAP) officials and national team at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Previous PAP President Eddie Torres and Sec. Gen. Filippo Scarlata, together with national athletes Jessa Mae Tabuan, Maritoni Elline Neri, Regie Ramirez, Jeremy Reign Bautista, Jane Erasmo, Veronica Ompod, and Rafael Cahilig were present in the visit.

The team flew all the way to Iceland to compete at the World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships last November 11-16, 2024. Ramirez won gold in men’s 59 kg deadlift and set a world open record, while Ompod took home silver in women’s 47kg deadlift.

The team also broke multiple national and Asian records as they stashed their own personal best in the worlds.
