RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin gave the signal his country is ready to restore ties with South Korea after commending the East Asian country.
Is South Korea ready to restore ties with Russia?
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he highly appreciates South Korea’s position not to directly supply weapons to Ukraine.
Putin noted he does not see any Russophobic stance when working with the South Korean government.
He also expressed interest in restoring ties with the East Asian nation.
Ties between Russia and South Korea soured since Seoul joined an initiative led by the U.S. to impose sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
Putin made the remark on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The Russian leader said he is aware that the United States is attempting to persuade South Korea to look for weapons to send to Ukraine, adding that he is monitoring the situation closely.
Putin likewise reaffirmed strengthening ties with North Korea as diplomatic ties between the two nations deepened since their bilateral summit in September of last year.
