Raid on KOJC religious compounds in Davao City mirrors U.S. incident, possibly dictated—Legal Counsel

Raid on KOJC religious compounds in Davao City mirrors U.S. incident, possibly dictated—Legal Counsel

THERE is a strong possibility that someone is dictating or directing the armed police raid on the religious compounds of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in Davao City last June 10.

The same method of attack.

This was stated by Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Minister, Bro. Carlo Catiil, regarding the aggressive entry of armed authorities into the religious compounds of KOJC in Davao City, allegedly to serve a warrant of arrest.

Instead of trying to communicate peacefully, the police preferred to use violence, even while wearing full battle gear.

The authorities who raided the compound were a combined force of the PNP elite group of the Special Action Force and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

At four in the morning last Monday, June 10th, the prayers of the KOJC missionaries were interrupted when armed police jumped over the wall using a ladder.

Catiil said it was also four in the morning when authorities in America raided the religious compound of KOJC in the United States, particularly in Hawaii.

“Same pattern, same pattern. At four o’clock, sir, I was there in Hawaii. I was a minister sent to Hawaii. That’s how kind Pastor is, he assigned us to Hawaii to take care of the work there. At four o’clock, sir, same, same scenario. They entered,” according to Carlo Catiil, KOJC Minister.

Just like the aggressive and inhumane raid by armed police on the religious compounds of KOJC in Davao City, the authorities did the same to the religious compounds of KOJC in Hawaii.

“Can you imagine, sir, in our KLC in Hawaii, they destroyed all our doors. Three groups entered from the back, one group entered from the front. Two groups, all the doors were broken, sir, even our main gate. And then literally, sir, their guns were aimed with lasers because it was night. And then we were handcuffed, sir. Look, sir, in 2018, the case they wanted to bring against the Kingdom, to take Pastor, the case was dismissed,” Catiil added.

KOJC legal counsel Atty. Dinah Tolentino-Fuentes believes that someone may be directing the ‘overkill’ raid by the authorities simultaneously on the religious compounds of KOJC.

“Because of the parallel that we see, the similarities including the helicopter that circled around, because there was a helicopter during the raids on June 10. There was a helicopter circling around with police aiming their guns at people below.”

“In US, I understand that is also what happened in 2018, there were helicopters, they had buses to take the alleged trafficked persons. They came in empty, they left empty. Here in this case, they did not have any buses but then the other aspect of the operations are similar. So, we can only speculate that there somebody an unseen hand behind this Philippine raids. That might be coordinating with American authorities considering the fact that there is a case pending before the US,” stated Atty. Dinah Tolentino-Fuentes, Legal Counsel, KOJC.

Whether in America or the Philippines, they use the same raid style—attacking in the early hours, all armed, and facing unarmed KOJC members and missionary workers.

Here in the Philippines, they simultaneously raided the KOJC religious compounds in Davao City, at Prayer Mountain and at Glory Mountain, both in Tamayong, Davao City, and even at the Kingdom Compound in Kitbog, Sarangani Province.

The authorities brazenly forced their way into each compound, ignoring the fear and trauma they cause the members and missionary workers of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, especially to the young people who are defenseless.

Catiil suspects that because they couldn’t win the case in America, they brought it here in the Philippines.

“And then they cannot win the case there in the United States of America, they bring it here to the Philippines. Same pattern, sir, our own police, is our morality and integrity that low? We are pleading, sir, there are videos, we are pleading—it’s almost begging, sir, please don’t do that to our compound. They forcibly enter, but we are not backing down. We told them to shoot us if they want to, but we will not leave. You will never be able to enter,” Catiil expressed.

Meanwhile, Atty. Tolentino-Fuentes wonders why, until now, there has been no extradition request from the United States against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte, who serves as the KOJC property administrator, previously stated that they will file the necessary charges against the police who violated the law due to the overkill service of the warrant of arrest.
