SOUTH African President Cyril Ramaphosa, together with other delegates arrived in Kyiv on Friday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The purpose of the said meeting was to promote a negotiated end to the ongoing war between Kyiv and Moscow.
During their talks, Ramaphosa put forward his peace plan which includes the following:
- It is necessary for the mediator to listen carefully to Ukraine and Russia.
- Peace must be achieved through diplomatic means.
- It is necessary to de-escalate the conflict.
- The sovereignty of states must be respected.
- Security must be guaranteed for all countries.
- It is necessary to ensure the movement of grain and fertilizers.
- It is necessary to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of the war.
- It is necessary to exchange prisoners of war.
- It is necessary to rebuild the country after the war.
And 10. It is necessary to build better relations between Ukraine and African countries.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the other hand, stressed that negotiations were impossible as long as Russians were on Ukrainian territory.
The African delegation is set to travel to Russia on Sunday to talk with President Vladimir Putin on the same issue.
