Rebel remnants operating in 10011st Brigade AOR surrender

REMNANTS of the dismantled NPA units previously operating in the Area of Operations of the 1001st Infantry Brigade surrendered to the authorities, bringing along with them various High-powered firearms and war materiel.

Four of the surrenderees were former members of the Dismantled Guerrilla Front 33 (DGF 33) operating in the boundaries of Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Agusan del Sur, while the other 1 is a former member of the Dismantled Pulang Bagani Command 5 (DPBC 5) operating in the boundaries of Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental surrendered to the 60th Infantry Battalion under LTC JOVILY CARMEL CABADING PA in Camp Morgia, Dona Andrea, Asuncion, Davao del Norte on April 24 2024. They brought along with them 5 high-powered firearms including; 1 AR-15 rifle, 1 Bushmaster rifle, 2 Baby Armalite, and 1 M14 rifle.

The surrenderer was brought about by the extensive efforts of the 60th Infantry Battalion to look after the remnants of the NPA units through the direction and guidance of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, under the leadership of Brigadier General Ronnie B Babac.

Meanwhile, in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, a total of 4 personalities voluntarily surrendered to the 25th Infantry Battalion under LTC EMMANUEL C LAROA PA on separate occasions – one surrendered on April 15, another one on April 22, one on April 24, and one on April 27. Two of the surrenderees were former members of the Dismantled Regional Headquarters of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (DRHQ, SMRC), while the other 2 formerly belonged to the Dismantled Guerrilla Front 2 (DGF 2). These surrenders yielded 4 Improvised Explosive Devices (or commonly known as Home Made Landmines), and other war materiel.

In his statement, BGen Babac lauded the troops’ significant accomplishment. “I commend the efforts of the two Battalions operationally controlled by the 1001st Infantry Brigade, in facilitating the surrender of the remnants of the NPAs. These accomplishments speak well of their commitment and dedication to duty worthy of emulation,” said BGen Babac.

The 1001st Brigade along with its operationally controlled units 60IB and 25IB is relentless in its efforts to look after the remnants of the NPAs despite the Declaration of its AOR as Insurgency-Free. It can be recalled that Davao del Norte was declared Insurgency-Free on June 13, 2022, and Davao de Oro on June 22 of the same year.
