Rep. Paolo Duterte sends aid to flood victims of Davao City

ON Friday, January 19, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte provided aid to approximately 800 families affected by flash floods and landslides resulting from the recent heavy downpour caused by the shearline weather system.

Through the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) program, Rep. Duterte coordinated the distribution of hot chicken arroz caldo (porridge) to 800 families residing in Matina Crossing, Catalunan, Bago Aplaya, Barangay 9-A, Barangay 2-A, Barangay 5-A, and Ma-a.

The personnel from the First Congressional District Office also distributed a package containing biscuits, fresh milk, and bottled mineral water to each family impacted by the disaster.

Additionally, specific milk was provided to children.

Flood victims in Barangay 5-A (Bankerohan), one of the severely affected areas, received food packs containing canned goods, alcohol, tissue, and other essentials, along with rice assistance.

The lawmaker’s office actively assisted flood victims within its areas of responsibility (AOR).

“We visited the affected families in evacuation centers to check on them and to distribute food, water, and milk to families with children. We encourage our Dabawenyos to remain vigilant. Our office is within your reach, ready to rescue and respond,” according to Rep. Paolo Duterte, Davao City 1st District.

Rep. Duterte mentioned that despite the receding floodwaters, they continue reaching out to displaced families.

He emphasized that they are awaiting the final list from the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The CSWDO is currently engaged in master listing, validation, and assessment for the affected families.

Furthermore, its Child Development Workers have initiated “child-friendly spaces” to provide psychosocial support to children during the calamity.

As of the latest report from the Office of Civil Defense-Davao Region, around 95 areas throughout the entire Davao Region are still experiencing flooding.

In Progress Assessment No. 4, Davao del Norte reported the highest number of flooded areas, with 64 barangays affected, followed by Davao Oriental with 22, and Davao de Oro with nine.

Moreover, the region has witnessed over 50 landslides, with Davao de Oro leading with 44 incidents and eight occurring in Davao Oriental.
